Match Report
So, as hoped, the weather was much more kind to us this time so we were able to enjoy a fabulous day at Bletchingley (we got caught in torrential rain the last time we played here back in Nov 22 if my memory serves well?).
Although August is generally a holiday month for most, we still had yet another superb turnout with initially 30 members booked, thank you all once again or your fantastic support.
Unfortunately for various personal reasons we lost 3 members and ended up as 27 on the day to play our seventh outing of the year, which is still a fantastic attendance. It really does make for a great day for us all and is very much appreciated.
The course was good, although very dry due to the recent lack of rain, but the greens were in great condition – which again made for another brilliant days golf. As has become the trend, there were many players (almost all) sporting their Foresters polo’s which is great to see.
Whilst some holes were definitely challenging, we still saw some decent golf and close scoring again with the eventual winner coming in in the final group! pipping the leader in the club house who was from the first group! (it had been a long wait on tenterhooks).
Again, there were a number of players in the mid/high 30’s, proving another close field. But the outright winner of the ‘President’s Shield’ went to Ken Donnelly with a superb 43pts, well done Ken fantastic golf. In 2nd Place, (for a second time now) with a healthy 40pts was Gary Lock (your day will come Gaz), and in 3rd Place with 39pts was Liam Sheehan.
Nearest the Pin also went to Liam on the 2nd, and Andrew Frost on the 17th.
Well done to you all.
Oh, and Winner (if that’s the right word!?) of our new wooden spoon award the ‘Duffer of the Day’ went to Peter Gossage (although he escaped the presentation as Adrian left it at home! Doh).
So, all in all, yet another great day of golf in enjoyable company.
Thanks, as always, to all of you for your support and enthusiasm. It really is appreciated.
