Match Report

So although the rain & unpredictably changing weather continues well in to March, the weather was kind to us & we had a dry day, albeit windy but at least we didn’t have to experience the forecasted up to 40mph gusts.

 We unfortunately had 4 withdrawals on the day due to sickness, but it was still another great turn out which saw 24 of us hit the fairways. Thanks as always to all of you for your commitment & support which helps make for a great day’s golf for everyone. It’s truly appreciated.

 On to the golf.  We were competing for the John Becvar Cup . The fairways were in a decent condition & the greens too as well as surprisingly lightning quick. I played with Stan & Ed (Goodwood members) which clearly helped me greatly with course knowledge & pin positions as I triumphed with a winning score of 38pts. In 2nd place with 34pts was Andy Frost, and in 3rd Place on count back with 2 others on 32pts was Stan Craig.

Nearest the Pins went to Glenn Clements NP in 2 on the 6th and Stan again on the 180yd 11th where I saw him hit an incredible shot to within a foot. Very well played and well done to everyone.

Finally, the recipient of our now prestigious and coveted ‘Duffer of the Day’ award was one of our newest members Jason Edwards. Not quite the start to the society you were probably hoping for Jason, but still a trophy nonetheless!    

 All in all, it was another fantastic day out. Thanks, as always, to all of you that turned out for your enthusiasm & continued support.
