Match Report

We enjoyed another fantastic day at Hever Castle Golf Club, which has become a tradition for our annual ‘Captains Day’.

We had another superb turnout with initially 36 members booked, thank you all or you support as always. Unfortunately for various personal reasons we ended up as 32 on the day to play our sixth outing of the year, which is still a fantastic attendance. It really does make for a great day for us all and is very much appreciated.

17 members opted to warm up for the main afternoon event by playing the 9 hole friendly Texas Scramble competition in the morning. This was made up of 5 teams and was duly won by Team 4 which consisted of Marc Cox, John Stevens, Andy Tollhurst & Richard Levett with a winning score of 25 shots. Well done to all of you and also the other teams that participated.

On to the afternoons main event. Although we hadn’t seen much rain in the proceeding weeks, the course and greens were in good condition – which again made for another brilliant days golf. There was the threat of a small shower and thunderstorm (there always is at Hever!) and it did deliver bang on time at 3pm – thankfully only lasting two or three minutes though and we soon dried out again in the humid conditions. There were a lot of players sporting their Foresters polo’s, which certainly made us look the part and maybe some of us play better!!?? Lol. As always, we saw some decent golf and close scoring again. There were 9 players in the mid/high 30’s, four on 34, one on 36, two on 37 and three in the low 40’s at the top.

So, another close field. But the outright winner of the ‘Captains Day’ Cup (which had seen a revamp & polish) went to Harry Curtis with 42pts, well done Harry.

In 2nd Place, (again!) with 41pts was Phil Simpson (next time Phil!?), and in 3rd Place on CB was yours truly with 37pts. One of our guest players, Erkan Kiamil also scored 41pts. Well played everyone.

Nearest the Pins went to Glenn Clements on the 6th, and Mike Burnett on the 12th.

 Well done to you all.

Winner (if that’s the right word!?) of our new wooden spoon award the ‘Duffer of the Day’ went to Adrian Curtis.

So, all in all, another great day. Thanks, as always, to all of you for your support and enthusiasm. It really is appreciated
