Match Report

We enjoyed another fantastic turnout at Lewes, with 26 of us originally set to play in our 11th and penultimate outing of 2025. Thank you all for your continued support of the Society.

 Unfortunately, three players had to withdraw for personal reasons, so 23 of us took to the course. The weather was kind and surprisingly mild for the time of year and being a downland chalk course certainly helped keep conditions good. Although it was rather hilly (the front nine felt like it was uphill almost the whole way!) and the greens and pin positions were unbelievably challenging, it still made for a thoroughly enjoyable day..

 We continued the new theme of play of ‘No Gimmes’ which again kept it a close scoring field. Course knowledge would prove to be a definite benefit - maybe advantage!? – especially knowing about the many elevated and sever sloping greens with difficult/impossible pin positions! Lol. And so it proved.

 So on to the results. The well-deserved winner of the ‘Jolly Jug’ with an impressive 42pts was Charlie Wycherley …well done Charlie. Runner Up was Andy Frost with 39pts, and in 3rd Place was Lee Shergold with 38pts. Nearest the Pins went to Chris Brooks on the 6th and Bruce Allman on the 17th. Well played and well done to you all.  

The award for our ‘Duffer of the Day’ trophy went to Ian Martin, who’s course knowledge unfortunately didn’t benefit him on the day. Better luck next time Ian. Ian was at least pleased not to receive the award as someone forgot to bring it! Doh! 

 All in all, it was another fantastic day out.
