Match Report

30 of us were booked to play the challenging 4 club ‘Turkey Trot’, which considering the time of year is a busy one for us all, was a fantastic response. As always, thank you all for your commitment and continued support.

Unfortunately, 6 pulled out last minute for various reasons that meant 24 of us took to the course, which was still a good number. The weather was kind and at least dry, albeit a little windy and somewhat chilly! Anticipating this, I broke tradition of everyone receiving a gift after our Xmas dinner and instead presented everyone with a gift before we tee’d off, which was pleasingly well received, as the woolly Foresters hat certainly helped keep us warm out on the course!

The maximum 4 clubs is always very challenging, but it also proves that many of us clearly rarely select many more from our bag as 17 players still scored a respectable 30pts or more.

So on to the results. The well-deserved winner of the ‘Chichester Shield’ with an extremely impressive 44pts was Marc Cox, who also managed to score his best ever gross score of 80 at his home course, where he has been a member for 25yrs!+ (I think??) and plays at least 4 times a week! This included parring’ every hole on the front nine, with one birdie and a blob on the back. Wow! Well done mate. I hope Santa bought you a dusty-bin so you can throw the rest of your clubs away! you clearly don’t need them.

In 2nd place also with a very respectable 41pts was Liam Sheehan, and in 3rd Place with 36pts was John Stevens. Nearest the Pins went to Lee Shergold on the 8th and Liam Sheehan on the 14th. Very well played and well done to you all.

All in all, it was another fantastic day out. Thanks, as always, to all of you that turned out for your commitment and enthusiasm on a freezing cold December day. It’s really appreciated.
