Match Report
Twenty-six of us kicked off the year in style with our new Captain, Gordon, at Worthing last Thursday. We also had the pleasure of welcoming two new members, Richard Walsh and Mike Ridley, as well as two guests, Simon Forrest and Alan Murray—I hope they all enjoyed the day.
After a wet start to the year, the weather was kind to us, offering a dry and sunny (albeit chilly) day, allowing us to finally shake off the cobwebs and get back on the course. Worthing, as expected, proved to be both an outstanding and challenging course—particularly the greens, which tested many of us (especially from three feet!). The introduction of revised handicaps and the maximum one-foot ‘gimme’ rule made for lower scores across the board.
However, a huge congratulations to our winner of the inaugural Secretary’s Shield, Andy Williamson, who claimed victory on countback with 30 points. Also finishing with 30 points in 2nd place was Liam Sheehan, while Marc Cox secured 3rd place on countback with 29 points. Well played to all!
Nearest the pins went to Andy Williamson on the 9th - clearly thriving without the secretarial duties! and last year’s captain, Bruce Allman, on the 14th—well done, gents!
All in all, it was a fantastic day, and I hope everyone enjoyed it.
Thank you all for your support and enthusiasm. Its always very much appreciated.
Paul Hon. Secretary
