AGM 12th December 2025

 I opened by thanking everyone for their continued support which has always been very strong, both this year and in previous years.  We have a core membership of over 50 players who take part in one or more meetings each year, and this ongoing support keeps the Society thriving.   Fittingly, the Society is celebrating its 50th year since being founded in 1975 — something I felt many members were unaware of. Sadly, as very few of the original members are still able to play, and many have unfortunately passed away, I felt it was important to take this opportunity to share some of our history with current members and explain how the Society was founded.

Agenda;

  • Bank Account
We started the year with £1956 and end the year with £1936. We are not a business and do not have an overdraft facility so as a ‘Society’ we need to keep a healthy balance to pay deposits for upcoming meetings, pre-pay meetings (avg meeting £2015), purchase prizes/awards, merchandise etc… therefore your prompt payments are always helpful and very much appreciated.

  • Membership
We have 100+ members (anyone that can no longer play or no longer wish to be a member, or receive our emails please email me so I can remove you from the distribution list) We welcomed 9 new members in 2025. We had 59 members attend one or more meeting in 2025 We had 20 players that played 80% of the 11 meetings in 2025 We averaged 31 players over 11 meetings. Peaking with 36 for our Captains Day

  • Membership Fee
We all agreed that the £30 membership fee (introduced in 2025) should continue. As explained, this helped keep a healthy bank balance and was used as detailed above. It also helped fund all the new prizes in 2025, which included individual prizes for 1st/2nd/3rd & NP’s (trophies/logoed balls/ball-markers), as well as a healthy stock of our new branded Foresters garments (brochure attached - If you wish to purchase any item please email me).

  • Election of Officers
President
We thanked Bruce Wass who has requested to step down for personal reasons. Bruce has been a member for many many years and was always great company on and off the golf course – especially on the International trips where his knowledge of fine food/wine and the local language was always utilised! We wish him well and hope to see him on the course again as soon as possible.

We welcomed Jimmy Gasson as our new President. Fittingly Jimmy is our longest serving member and we hope will continue to join us on the fairways for many more years.

Captain
We thanked Gordon Sims for his excellent work as our Captain, and I personally thanked him for all his support throughout 2025.

We welcomed Graham Boniface as our new Captain for 2026 and Pete Russell as Vice-Captain. Pete will be Captain in 2027. Each of them attended all but 1 meeting (inc the International).

  • International
We thanked Andy Frost and Adrian Curtis for organising our trip to Arras in September. 2027 sees us head to Bruges to play 3 courses in 3 different countries – Belgium, Holland & France between the 3rd to 6th September. Places are still available if you want to come. Email me and I will forward to Andy & Adrian.
